Match Preview – Mayo Senior League 1E – Swinford vs Westport

Swinford’s Junior team make their first appearance of the year in the Mayo Senior League Division 1E this weekend.

They face Westport’s Junior team in Westport on Sunday, 1st April at 2pm. After a very successful campaign in Division 1G last year in which the team remained unbeaten they were rewarded with two divisional promotions up to Division 1E.

Team manager Billy McNicholas along with his selectors Colm O’Hara and Fintan Kenny are expecting a big challenge for their team in this division but are very enthusiastic about their chances for the year.

The squad has been boosted by the arrival of former Kiltimagh star Adrian Forkan who isDebut expected to make his debut on the “forty” on Sunday. Adrian has a wealth of experience and some of the inside forwards will be hoping to score heavily via Adrian’s delicious left foot passes. We wish him well on his debut for the club. Other stalwarts of the club like Tom Horkan and Jimmy Henry will be hoping to guide this young team through this difficult assignment on Sunday.

Billy is also hoping that the junior team this year will provide a springboard for a lot of the younger players with ambitions of making the first team. Mark McNicholas, Darren Campbell and Lee Fennell are just some of the players falling into this category and they will be hoping to make a big impact in this first league game of the year.

With the weather promised nice and mild for Sunday, why not come out and support your local team. It would be much appreciated by the management and players.

Look out for match report here on Sunday evening.
